Sending to Contact Lists

Send an official notice to all contacts in a list via Broadcasts.

Once you have a contact list, you can send an official notice to the entire list from the Audiences page. The flow opens the dedicated Broadcasts composer, not an inline modal on Audiences. Use this for targeted public notices, stakeholder updates, and department announcements.

For one-off emails to individually typed addresses, use Compose → One-off instead.

Send to a list

  1. Go to Audiences in the sidebar.
  2. Select the list you want to send to.
  3. Click Send to this list.
  4. You are taken to Broadcasts → New with the list pre-selected (/broadcasts/new?list=…).
  5. Fill in the broadcast:
    • Sender: choose an active official mailbox on a verified domain.
    • Broadcast name: internal label (not shown to recipients).
    • Subject: the email subject line.
    • Body: HTML content for the notice (with optional plain-text fallback).
    • Schedule (optional): send later instead of immediately.
  6. Click Send broadcast (or Schedule).

Taifa Mail sends one email per contact in the list. The list must contain at least one contact, and the mailbox must belong to your institution workspace and be active.

You can also start the same flow from Compose → Broadcast or Broadcasts → New.

Template variables

The subject and body fields support per-contact placeholders, replaced for each recipient:

  • {{email}}: the contact's email address.
  • {{name}}: the contact's name (blank if not set).
  • {{any_key}}: any key from the contact's metadata.

Any placeholder with no matching value is removed from the message.

Send results

After the broadcast is queued, track delivery on the broadcast detail page:

  • Per-recipient status (queued, delivered, bounced, and so on).
  • Aggregate open and click rates when tracking is enabled.

Suppressed addresses and other deliverability rules are applied inside the send pipeline as each email is processed, not at the moment you trigger the send.

Do not send to purchased or scraped lists. Use official institution records, lawful stakeholder lists, or recipients who have agreed to receive public-service communication.
